I finally have a few seconds to get back to sanity. My job has gotten so busy this past week that it's been driving me crazy.
Anyway, Pastor Danny and I have started a Bible Study on Tuesday mornings at our church. We had a guy from his job there with us for our first meeting. It was cool. We started an expository study on the book of 1 John. We hope that we will be able to get some more guys from the work field to join us.
Here are today's Friday Five as posted by Rick:
1) DO YOU STUDY THE BIBLE?
2) HOW OFTEN DO YOU "STUDY" THE BIBLE?
if you mean "study" as in going deeper than just a quiet time, then, about 3-4 times a week
3) DO YOU HAVE A ROUTINE IN YOUR STUDY TIME?
kinda, but not really...i read the context of the verse(s) i'm studying
4)WHAT TOOLS DO YOU USE FOR YOUR BIBLE STUDY?
my personal bible, my Evidence bible, my Strong's/Lexicon concordance, and Blue Letter Bible
5)WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU "TALKED BIBLE" WITH SOMEONE OUTSIDE OF CHURCH?
i'm the resident "bible guru" at work, so i get questions just about everyday
Rick asked me Monday if I would put out "The Tuesday Three" for this week. I wasn't able to post them here until today. Please forgive my slackness. Anyway, here they are:
1. If you could be any breed of dog which would you be? and why?
Bulldog, BIG & MEAN, yet gentle & soft
2. What would your name be? and why?
Brutus, I've watched too much Looney Tunes
3. And finally, what would be your normal day schedule?
Wake up sometime around 9am (as if I could tell time), eat a little breakfast, look to see if I could find any toys to play with, turn on the TV and watch the Discovery Channel, turn off TV just in time for my owner to walk in the door
I've been slack on my blogging and nobody's fault but my own. Aren't we too busy for ourselves? We say things like: "I'm really busy at work" or "My computer just isn't working right" or my favorite "The devil has been on my back today." We put the blame on everything or anyone else but ourselves. As I had my quiet time this morning God was showing me this very thing.
He showed me that I was playing "The Blame Game" to appease my comfortability. Don't we all play this game sometimes? We try to stay busy with life's activities so as to shift blame, quiet our conscience and give way to mediocrity. We don't like silence, do we. We don't like to have to face our own dumb decisions. Here's an example: Have ever had a conversation with someone and the conversation ended in that 5 or 6 seconds of awkward silence? We start thinking of stuff we've done that day. What's the first thing we do when we get into our cars? Turn the radio up. We don't like silence but silence brings self-reflection. I feel that America and the "American Church" needs to set time each day " to be still and know that He is God."
I pray that, through the Holy Spirit's power, I would have the strength and courage to fight the flesh and face the music of my mistakes.
Jacko's Wacky Family Portrait
This guy is officially the freakiest guy in the world.
Rick posted the Friday Five today.
1) What's the last movie you saw in a theater, and how was it?
The Passion of the Christ - very good
2) What's the best movie you've seen in a theater this year?
The Passion of the Christ
3) What movie are you most looking forward to for the summer blockbuster season?
Star Wars: Episode III and Spiderman 2
4) What was the last DVD you watched?
Monster Inc. (with my son)
5) Would you recommend buying it, renting it or skipping it - and why?
Buy it! Very good movie for all ages.
A simple, quick and provoking question for you.
Do you see what I see? (No, PR, not the "Little Drummer Boy" song.) We always say things like: if you only saw it through my eyes. Well, what if I did? Do our eyes see color the same way? For example, what if I saw a red truck with my eyes and, if possible, looked at the same truck with your eyes. Would it still be red? Maybe what I see as red, you see as blue.
Well, I'm back from taking off yesterday from work for a sinus-junk-thingy-in-my-eye. I woke up with my eye matted shut and the right side of my head pounding. I really don't know where it came, but it's gone now.
Anyway, did anyone catch the Press Conference last night? I watched for a while and was mostly pleased by it. The only thing that bothered me was the lack of respect of the journalist towards the President. I was impressed How President Bush took his time with them and thought out well formed answers.
I wonder how others felt about it?
Well, the interview went good, but I don't have a good feeling on this one. I knew all the right answers and said all the right things, but there are 2 ladies that what the position that have a little more knowledge about the position than I do.
Anyway, tonight is our big movie night at the church. We're showing The Gospel of John movie outdoors. For the past month or so, we have been going and passing out invitations to the movie in the community. Last night we went to a local mall where we were met with some opposition. Pastor Rick went to put a flyer on a new Honda Accord and the alarm went off as he walked away. It happened to be that the owner of the vehicle and her young son were walking toward the car. She proceeded to tell us not to touch her "blankety blank" car and accused he and I for trying to break into her car. (side note: This was cool! She was yelling so loud that it brought attention to what we were trying to get out. The people around were now more interested in what we had.) The whole ordeal ended with her getting security, and them asking us to leave. The security guard was very nice and knowledgeable. He gave us some information for the next time we go out like this again
The lesson overall is that Pastor Rick is allergic to Honda Accords.
If anyone reads this please pray for me. I just got word that I'm a canidate for a really good position here at my work and I have an interview tomorrow. This would be very good for my family and I, not to mention, it gives me the ability to have more time to do the Lord's work.
